First Baptist Church History 1957-1998

Expansion

Over the years, FBC continued to grow and in 1957 a decision was made to add an educational annex on ground donated for just that purpose by a member in 1899. Under the guidance of Rev. Allan Simpson   the annex was completed in 1959 along with a complete renovation of the Sanctuary and the original Sunday  School.

In 1975, the church was tuck pointed and stained along with a central air installation. And, in 1976 the Sanctuary and basement were completely remodeled removing the sloped floor of the worship hall as well as relocating the baptistery from its original 1870 location.

In 1988, another addition was constructed that doubled the size of the building due to an expanding membership. Even then the building size eventually became inadequate for the many ministries conducted there.
